And all tied in with a wonderful piece of English History about the infamous Gunpowder Plot. Priceless.

When one does not have cannons for the overture it seems fireworks just as well. V for vendetta final scene. I just love this scene for so many reasons, most of all being the fact that they portray V as human in such a perfect manner. Most cinematographers choose to use only subplots to humanize their characters, such as falling in love, or a lost home or family. However even putting all of V's backstory aside he is shown to be as human and vulnerable as anyone, in just one passing thought that you are subtly reminded of everytime you see his gloves. I love how they portray how self-conscious he becomes over his hands, but even more so, that pause when he realizes that not only is Evey not disgusted, but also concerned. Or perhaps even simply just from his memory being too painful to talk about. It's only a brief moment, but you can see him rendered speechless. Despite all skill, mental prowess, or fighting ability, there is just that brief moment where he doesn't know what to say or do. And it portrays V's unease so well in the subtle change in tone of voice, the slight hesitation, not looking directly at Evey. Hugo Weaving plays V so well, that, for one brief second, V truly could be anyone. It may seem like a reach, but that's what the undertone of this is. That V could just as well be anyone.

For a reason unknown, that guy reminds me of someone

Good sci-fi movie! Yet in reality the world needs and has to have laws, boundaries and limitations otherwise you have chaos when violated hence welcome to planet Earth. V for vendetta costume. I cried a little bit at this scene

Not being familiar with the original comic, I was surprised to see how close the story follows current world-events: The Chancellor (George W Bush) a religious zealot, who wants to exterminate everyone and everything who does not conform to this extremist beliefs: non-Christians, gays, artists, freedom. In a way reminding of 'Equilibrium. except he does not use compulsory drugs, but spreads fear about terrorists, even though he himself is revealed to be the actual terrorist, responsible for 100,000s of deaths.

A sign of a top actor. This should be a sinister scene. A masked terrorist in an old lady's room as she lies helpless. Yet it's not, primarily because of Weaving's voice. Weaving had Agent Smith in the Matrix with a sinister voice. Here, his voice is not sinister at all.

The only way the movie sees to deal with this, is to educate people, let them have a little taste of that freedom they have been missing lately, and most importantly: to give the people back their voice - march on the streets, and bring down the oppressors.
